A true end grain butcher block, the checkerboard kind, in walnut or maple. Three sizes up to a two inch thick, 24 by 18 inch centerpiece, riding on rubber feet.
Why We Chose It
Handmade in the USA. End grain is the surface serious cooks ask for: the blade slips between the wood fibers instead of across them, which keeps knives sharper and the board healing itself. It is also simply beautiful joinery.
How We'd Style It
Out on the counter, always. A block like this is the kitchen's anchor piece, with the board wax tin living in the drawer below it.
