A vintage salt-glazed barrel crock from Poterie Renault in two kitchen-friendly sizes, 4 and 5.5 liters. The shape French cafes trusted for over a century, with a surface that has clearly lived a little.

Why We Chose It

The Renault works salt-glazed their stoneware in the kiln itself, a technique that made pieces durable enough to survive generations of daily use, which is exactly why these still exist to sell. A crock like this brings instant history to a new kitchen, and it earns its counter space by actually working.

How We'd Style It

Wooden spoons and the walnut ladle by the range, or flour-sack storage on the pantry shelf. Out of the kitchen it holds its own as an object, on a sideboard with a few tall branches or simply standing empty on an open shelf beside cookbooks and stoneware.
