Deep enough for broth and noodles, with a fold at the rim that keeps chopsticks from rolling onto the table.

Why We Chose It

The folded lip is the clever part: pinched while the clay is still soft, it parks a pair of chopsticks or doubles as a spout when you want to pour off the last of the broth. Black Oak Art throws every bowl in their Waco, Texas studio, and the throwing rings under the sky blue glaze catch the light in a way a mold never could.

How We'd Style It

Pair it with the coupe sauce bowl for chili crisp on the side, and let the fold face whoever is eating.

Details

  • About 6.5 in (16.5 cm) wide and 3.5 in (8.9 cm) tall
  • Wheel-thrown stoneware
  • Folded lip holds chopsticks or works as a pour spout
  • Glazes: white, black and sky blue
  • Hand-thrown in Waco, Texas by Black Oak Art
  • Each bowl varies slightly in curve and glaze

Good to Know

The chopsticks in the photos are not included. The fold sits at one point on the rim, so each bowl has a natural front and the pour spout lands wherever your hand is.
