Two inches thick, two feet long, built from strips of hardwood turned on edge and glued into one block. The counter's permanent resident.
Why We Chose It
Edge grain is the classic butcher block build: the knife meets the wood fibers on their side, for a surface flatter and tougher than a plain board at a fraction of end grain's weight. A whole workstation, built to order in cherry, maple or walnut.
How We'd Style It
Out on the island, always, with the board wax in the drawer below it. Choose cherry, maple or walnut, a juice groove on top, underneath or none, and no handles, side handles or pocket handles.

Good to Know
A heavy block, so handles are worth having if it will ever leave the counter. Grain and color vary across the strips. Oil both faces now and then.
